11 Days to Halloween. Here’s What Your Brand Should Do Right Now.

Halloween lands on Saturday, October 31, which leaves your brand exactly 11 days. Here’s the uncomfortable part: 84% of shoppers in one retailer survey start Halloween prep by early October, and the money is already moving. NRF expects Americans to spend a record $13.5 billion this year.

The good news: 11 days is still enough time to win a slice of it, if you spend them well.

This Week (Oct 20-22): Fix What’s Already Live

Before spending a rupee or dollar on promotions, check what shoppers will actually see. Google and Bing are now the top starting point for Halloween shopping at 43%, and 47% of shoppers use AI tools to help them shop. That means clear titles, complete product details, and accurate stock.

Costume sellers, add fit and sizing details now. Comfort and fit is the top costume priority at 30%, up from 20% in 2024.

Oct 23-26: Lead With Value

NRF says shoppers are approaching the season with affordability in mind. Around one in five shops for promotions, and discount stores are the top destination at 39%, ahead of online retailers at 27% (World Footwear).

So online has to win on clarity and convenience. Bundle decor with party supplies, and make the deal obvious at a glance.

Oct 27-30: Promise Only What You Can Deliver

A costume that arrives November 1 isn’t a sale. It’s a return. Show a clear delivery cutoff on product pages, and keep stock close to where you ship from.

Halloween falls on a Saturday, and one seller guide expects outdoor decor demand to run higher than usual, so check that inventory too.

Oct 31 and After: Pivot Fast

Once Halloween ends, the clock moves straight to the next big date. Adobe expects $95.8 billion in online spending in October alone, and a record $275.1 billion across the holiday season. Black Friday is November 27, just 38 days away.

Mark down leftover Halloween stock, then use what you learned about traffic, best sellers, and delivery problems to plan your Black Friday launch.

The Bottom Line

Halloween is a small version of the whole holiday season: early shoppers, tight budgets, and no patience for late delivery. The brands that treat these 11 days as a dress rehearsal will walk into Black Friday already prepared.

The clock is running. Start with your listings today.
